How to Make Buttermilk Fudge

Do you want to make a buttermilk fudge for your family? Then this is the perfect recipe for you!

This is the simplest and moistest buttermilk fudge that you have ever found; an all time favorite of every child. This recipe has been a family tradition for years now, and this is the perfect time to introduce this dessert to your whole family.

1/2 c Walnuts; chopped
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 c Buttermilk
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup  Margarine
1 tablespoons Corn syrup

Cooking Instructions:
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 60 minutes

Cooking Steps:

  • Spread the butter in large and heavy Dutch oven.
  • Combine together the sugar, buttermilk, margarine, corn syrup, baking soda and let it cook over medium-low heat until the margarine melts and sugar is dissolved.
  • Wash down the sugar crystal that you see on the sides of the pan using a pastry brush dipped in hot water.
  • Increase the heat and bring into a boil. Make sure not to stir while the syrup is still boiling. Continue to cook till syrup reaches a soft ball stage (approximately 234 – 240 degrees)
  • Remove from heat then add the vanilla, do not stir and let it cools.
  • Beat the fudge using an electric mixer over medium speed until the fudge is thick.
  • Add the walnuts, stir carefully.
  • Pour the fudge mixture into the buttered 8 x 8 inch pan and let it cool.
  • Cut and slice into squares then store in a container. Refrigerate.
